As I mentioned back in my first post, I’m the chief source of technical support for my families computer needs. Whether it’s Windows errors, software issues or hardware concerns I can usually come up a few suggestions at a solution.

Having said that, my family is actually very computer literate and its usually the more complex issues of registry editing, virus/spyware removal or software conflicts that get passed on to me. In fact, my mother, father and sister have all at some point taught computer skills as they relate to art, design, word processing, control systems and website development. That brings me to C & A’s Wild Images, my parents website exhibiting their amateur wildlife photography collection.

A few years ago, shortly after my father had retired he wanted to get back into an old hobby of his – Photography – of course in the years he hadn’t been keeping up it everything changed. Although he was familiar with the advent of point-and-shoot digital cameras (when it comes down to it he could probably be considered an early adopter of the technology in his professional capacity) the transition from a 35mm Single Lens Reflex (SLR) to a digital SLR had a substantial learning curve.

Now, three or four years into it, both he and my mother have honed their photography skills to the point of snapping some gallery quality pictures. Its these shots that my farther wanted to share on a website. So using his existing knowledge of HTML and Flash he worked in Adobe (Macromedia) Dreamweaver to create www.adwimages.co.uk.

Apart from showing of their photographic talents my Dad had hoped the website would be a gateway to reach out to other amateur and professional wildlife photographers in hopes of getting constructive feedback on his images and further improving his and my mothers photography skills.  Unfortunately, photography, especially wildlife photography, is a topic of tough competition on the internet and the site doesn’t get the exposure it deserves.

The site is currently being transitioned from a pure HTML/Flash site to a PHP/Wordpress site, but still his posts are interesting and the images are worth a look. Maybe I can persuade him to prepare a few high quality images as desktop wall paper to share here at Almost-American.com.
