Today didn’t look to promising on paper. My calendars, both the paper and electronic ones, were empty. Two of my direct reports are away on training, and one on vacation – leaving just three for me supervise. The manager is also out of the office for two days – so I wasn’t expecting anything new to come my way. Luckily I had forgotten that there was some safety training in first thing on using Radios; so at least something to fill up my morning. Continue reading »
Today was largely consumed by to main tasks – online training for the EL program and a three hour telephone call to collaborate on some work in Bakersfield.
I had to laugh as one of the employees I didn’t recognize poked their head in my office this morning and said “Hey, I just wanted to say great job on the all employee meeting. I really liked the format.” I’m honestly not sure if there is some inside joke I’m missing here… or not. Continue reading »
There is a distinct difference in my life between being a supervisor and a non-supervisor, and that is the day when all the meetings occur. As a supervisor, Mondays are for meetings. Previously in Bakersfield Tuesdays had always been meeting day – I now really feel sorry for my normal supervisor knowing he has both Mondays and Tuesdays full of meetings. Continue reading »
